Christingle service at St Stephens - Sunday 30th November
Tue 02 Dec 2014Oakfield Choir, Handbells and Recorders really enjoyed joining with our friends from Trinity St Stephen First for our annual Christingle celebration. In a packed church everyone agreed that the real 'ah' moment was the climax of the service when the lights were dimmed and we sang 'Away in a Manger' by the light of our Christingles. See here http://www.oakfieldfirstschool.org.uk/christingle-service-2014/ for more pictures.

Oakfield becomes Global Learning Programme Expert Centre
Wed 29 Oct 2014Congratulations! Oakfield has just become the Global Learning Programme Expert Centre for Windsor. Over the next four terms, we will be leading a group of up to 23 schools to help them develop their own Global Learning. The Global Learning Programme (GLP) supports school development, best practice in teaching and learning and pupil achievement by enhancing curricular and cross-curricular global learning throughout the whole school. At Oakfield we recognise our place as citizens in the global community, and we constantly celebrate the diversity of cultures around us. We look forward to supporting other schools in their work on Global Citizenship. -

New Installation for Computing Lessons!
Thu 09 Oct 2014On Monday 6th October we had a new audio visual system installed in the dining room which means Mr Sendorek doesn't have to set up a projector and screen before every computing session. It looks very smart (see below for a picture). It will also serve as an occasional treat for Breakfast and Tea Club children, allowing them to watch a film or CBBC after they have eaten. -

Extreme Reading Summer Competition
Wed 23 Jul 2014Over the summer you are challenged to do some extreme reading!
To enter, you just need to get a photo of you being caught reading somewhere unusual, funny or surprising! You might be posing with a book up a mountain, relaxing with a summer read in a hammock or visiting somewhere amazing.
Just get someone to take a photo and enter the Extreme Reading Competition. The photos will be used to celebrate the fact that at Oakfield First School we are famous for our reading. The Oakfield Owls are taking this very seriously but unfortunately they can’t read themselves so as you can see from the photo below, they are getting a bit of help!
All Oakfield staff have been invited to take part too, so we look forward to seeing some of their photos in September as well.
Looks like Mrs Sendorek has started already……
To enter, email your entry to oakfield@rbwm.org.uk with your name and class.
Prizes will be awarded at a special reading assembly in September!
Happy reading!
