Welcome to Oakfield First School.

At Oakfield First School, we are committed to providing an educational experience that equips both our staff and children with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to flourish. Our curriculum is designed to be ambitious and challenging, providing children with the opportunity to retrieve and build upon previously learned information in a progressive and sequenced manner. We ensure that every child is offered opportunities for stretch and challenge, not only in their academic development but also in their personal growth. This approach is embedded both inside and outside the classroom, fostering a rich environment where children can develop a love of learning and thrive in all aspects of their development.  

From the moment our youngest children join us, we focus on building a solid academic foundation, providing the skills they need to succeed, and growing from there. As they progress through their learning journey, we ensure they are empowered with both the confidence and resilience to thrive as learners and individuals, right through to their final year with us in Year Four.  

I truly believe that teaching is a privilege, and our dedicated staff share this belief. They work tirelessly to create an environment where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to explore and take risks in their learning. It is through collaboration, reflection, and commitment to continuous growth that we ensure every child has the best possible opportunity for development. This ethos extends to our staff, too, who are supported in their professional growth to ensure that they can provide the best learning experiences for our children.  

I am committed to creating an environment at Oakfield First School where both children and staff are nurtured, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.  We are preparing children not only for their next steps in education but for a future that, as we know, is filled with unknowns. Our responsibility is to provide them  with the skills—both academic and personal—that will allow them to adapt and flourish in a rapidly changing world. At the same time, we place great emphasis on nurturing their emotional, social, and ethical development, helping them grow into compassionate and responsible global citizens.
