Meet The Governors

What do we do?

Oakfield First School is a member of the Windsor Learning Partnership (WLP).  As per the WLP Scheme of Delegation, Oakfield First School has a Local Governing Board which “will focus upon safeguarding, educational provision and performance, community engagement, and operational management and compliance at the school(s) that it oversees.”

Governors are critical friends to the school.  We challenge and support the Headteacher, to ensure that the strategic direction of the school is focused on ensuring that all children receive the best possible education.

We meet as a full governing board once every short term and may attend other meetings such as sub-committees/panels/working groups as required.

We visit school and meet with staff, pupils and parents to monitor progress across all aspects of the school, with particular focus on the key priorities from the school improvement plan.  We celebrate success, acknowledging the hard work of the school staff and pupils across the year.

We enjoy being part of the school community, especially attending school events such as the KS1 & KS2 shows, sports day and FoO events.

How are we constituted?

To reflect DfE policy, each LGB shall be structured of not more than 9 individuals, which must include:

  1. Headteacher, ex-officio;
  2. One staff Governor;
  3. Two parent Governors;
  4. Five community Governors appointed by the LGB; and
  5. If the Board of Trustees had concerns about the performance of the school(s)

overseen by the LGB it would be able to appoint additional Governors.

The Chief Executive Officer has a standing right of attendance to any LGB meeting, but is not a voting Governor. The LGB may invite other members of staff to attend in a non-voting capacity.
