Meet The Governors
The Governing Board
“Governors and trustees support the school effectively. They know the school’s strengths and act quickly to resolve any potential risks to the school’s quality of education. The newly appointed leadership team is dedicated and has a clear vision for the school.”
OFSTED January 2025
Chair of Governors Welcome
Hello,
I’m delighted to be stepping into the role of Chair of Governors at Oakfield First School for the remainder of this academic year. As a parent governor with two children at Oakfield - one in Reception and one in Year 3 - I’m fortunate to know the school not only through governance, but through the everyday moments that matter most: conversations at the school gate, shared stories from the children, and the many events that bring our community together.
Oakfield is a school with a strong sense of identity and purpose. It is a place where children are known, supported, and encouraged to grow - not just academically, but as confident, curious, and resilient individuals. The dedication of the staff in creating a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment is evident every day, and as governors we are proud to support and champion that work.
The Local Governing Board brings together staff, parent, and community governors who volunteer their time and collectively offer a wide range of skills and perspectives. What unites us is a shared commitment to Oakfield, its values, and its future. Working in close partnership with school leadership, our role is to provide support and thoughtful challenge, ensuring that strategic decisions are rooted in the school’s history and community, while also embracing innovation and new opportunities.
Everything we do is guided by Oakfield’s mission: Excellence through partnership in learning. We believe the strongest outcomes for children are achieved when school and families work together, and we truly value the role parents and carers play in that partnership.
On behalf of the Local Governing Board, thank you for being part of Oakfield. It is a privilege to support your child’s first school journey, and I look forward to working together in the years ahead.
Warm regards,
Dani Lindley
What do we do?
The local governing board (LGB) acts as a vision setter and are strategic decision makers for the school. We challenge and support the Headteacher to ensure that all children receive the best possible education.
Governors work in close partnership with the Executive Headteacher, Head of School, staff and colleagues at Windsor Learning Partnership to deliver on the 3 core functions of a governing board:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Holding the executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, the performance management of staff and the implementation of the governing boards strategy for the school.
- Overseeing financial performance
Meet the Governors
How are we constituted?
Oakfield First School is a member of the Windsor Learning Partnership (WLP). As per the WLP Scheme of Delegation, Oakfield First School has a Local Governing Board (rather than local governance remaining in the centrally within the multi-academy trust)
To reflect DfE policy, Oakfield LGB shall be structured of not more than 11 individuals, which must include:
- Headteacher, ex-officio;
- One staff Governor (elected)
- Two parent Governors (elected)
- Five community Governors appointed by the LGB; and
- If the Board of Trustees had concerns about the performance of the school(s)
overseen by the LGB it would be able to appoint additional Governors.
The Chief Executive Officer has a standing right of attendance to any LGB meeting, but is not a voting Governor. The LGB may invite other members of staff to attend in a non-voting capacity.
The standard term of office for each Governor is 4 years.
The Chair and Vice Chair of the board are elected annually at the last board meeting of the academic year, in preparation for the new term.
