28th April 2016

UPDATE - RBWM have now rescheduled work to commence on Tuesday 3rd May 2016.

26th April 2016

Dear Parents,

I wanted to update you on the status of the pedestrian footbridge following its closure last week.  The council, after inspection on Friday 15th April, closed the bridge after structural issues were noticed. Mr Linton, our Site Manager, notified the council of the potential road safety risks associated with closing the bridge.  After much negotiation, the council agreed to install a temporary pedestrian crossing on Imperial Road, ensuring our families had a safe place to cross.

We have maintained communication with the relevant council departments and were informed this morning that they intend to start work on the bridge later this week, making the bridge safe to use.  The work planned could take up to two days. Whilst this work is carried out, the area immediately in front of the pedestrian gate on Imperial Road is likely to be closed off for the duration. We have alternative routes in to and out of school; the pedestrian gate adjacent to the Oakbridge carpark and the pedestrian gate to the side of the school staff carpark. Whilst school staff will be available during peak times to assist, please take care when using these alternative routes as crossing the carpark will be necessary.

The bridge will require further work which the council hope to complete during the coming months.  We will keep you informed of developments. If you have any concerns or questions then please contact RBWM customer services.

Kind regards,

Mrs S Hull
