On Friday last week, we had a little party to celebrate working hard and completing our Mr Potato head. We started off playing musical statues and then had a little break for some party food. After we had had our snack, we played a game of bingo! This was enjoyed by the children and we will certainly play this again as it helps us to learn our numbers too!
This week has been Maths week at school. The children have been mixed up into groups and have visited various classes to participate in different mathematical activities. The children have all come back to class with good feedback of their experiences. In class we have been busy learning our 2’s, 5’s and 10 times table. The children have been set a Maths Times Table challenge by Mrs Sendorek for the half term holiday. The times tables that the children were unsure of have been set home for the children to work on more.
In the Year 1 classes, we looked at work by the artist M.C. Escher and his work using tessellation. We then had a go at recreating our own piece of art using a shape to tessellate.
As part of Maths week, we had a visit from Josh the Puzzle Man. Each class had an hour slot in the hall in which the children worked in small groups to solve a variety of puzzles. The children had great fun doing this and really made our brains work hard! Here we are having a go at some of the puzzles:
In computing, we have continued to learn about algorithms. To finish of the topic this term, Mr Sendorek introduced the children to Lego the robot. The children had to program the robot to move around. The children thoroughly enjoyed this session as you can imagine!
That’s it for now, have a lovely half term holiday!
