Here are all the activities we have been doing in Ash this week...
Firstly, on Tuesday after the Individual Learning Conference, we were very pleased to show off all the lovely projects we had busily been making at home under the theme of ‘G is for Games’. There were lots of great ideas and we all spoke about what we had done. An area in the classroom was created to display all our wonderful games and posters where we could all enjoy looking at them and playing with them. Here are a few pictures of us enjoying our projects.
We have been learning about 2D shapes. We have learnt the names of the shapes including a circle, square, rectangle, triangle, hexagon and pentagon. We all went on a shape hunt around the school to see where we could find shapes. We were surprised to find shapes are everywhere! Miss Lewis took pictures of all the shapes that we had spotted and when we came back to the classroom, we put the pictures on the Smartboard to see all the shapes we had found and named them as they appeared on the screen. Here are some of the pictures of the shapes that we found.
Our story of the week was ‘The Little Red Hen’ as part of our Harvest theme. We have learnt that we should help one another and work as a team so that we get good results. We brought in our favourite vegetables and placed them on our own ‘Harvest Table’ and then on Friday we all worked together to chop up all the vegetables to cook up into a delicious soup! We had a lot of fun preparing the soup and we learnt about two new vegetables which were butternut squash and courgette! Here are some pictures of us making and tasting the soup.
In PE this week we have been continuing to learn how to use the large apparatus. We have been thinking about different ways we can travel using our bodies and have been getting very good at thinking of ways to move between the different apparatus including: hopping, jumping, and going forwards, backwards, sideways, on our fronts and on our backs. We are getting very controlled with our movements and are also starting to move whilst controlling an object as well which is improving balance and coordination. Here are a few pictures of some of our efforts in PE this week.
Lastly, we have been learning how to use the laptops and this week we were playing a shape game to consolidate our learning of shapes.
