Year 1 Medieval Banquet
This week Holly and Maple class had the experience of a medieval banquet, to link in with our English and History topics. We all dressed up as a person that lived in the medieval times such as kings, queens, princesses and knights. Everyone looked fantastic! We went into the hall where we had a go at learning a medieval dance. We chose a king, queen, princess and a knight to sit on the ‘throne’. Some of us wanted to be a jester and try and entertain the king and queen, by singing, playing an instrument and telling jokes.
After we had had some entertainment, we refuelled ourselves with a hearty feast of fruit, biscuits, cheese and ‘wine’!
Next, we the queens and princesses had a little rest while they were entertained by the males engaging in a sword fight!
After a tiring sword fight, the men retired and took a seat to be entertained by the ladies dancing to another traditional medieval dance.
We re-elected a new king, queen, prince and princess to take the throne!
Next came the fun part we had all been waiting for...taking part in a bit of jousting!
To finish our banquet, we had some group photographs of us all dressed up in our costumes.
We had a lovely day experiencing what it would be like to attend a banquet in the medieval times. We are now really looking forward to visiting Windsor Castle!
