We have jumped right back into learning new things this term in Birch class! In Science, we have been thinking about the foods that we need to eat to be healthy, and how much of each type of food a balanced diet has in it. We used this knowledge to help us to prepare for our upcoming cookery trip, when we will make flatbreads. We have also started to learn more about plants and what the different parts in a plant do. We went outside to see what signs of spring we could see on the trees around our field. In particular, we were searching for where seeds might originate and found lots of blossom and the beginnings of fruit. Here we are outside:
We have also enjoyed visits from Metro Bank this week. It was really interesting to find out more about how banks work and to understand some of the vocabulary, such as ‘interest’ and ‘bank statement’. The staff were friendly and helped us when we were stuck. We’re looking forward to our final two sessions at school and to our trip to the bank, when we will get to see the bank vault and use the magic money machine!
Maths and spelling homework will both be sent home today and guided reading will begin again on Monday. We would be grateful if you could continue to read with your child every night, and to make sure that PE kits are always at school.
