We’ve had a short but exciting week in Birch!
On Tuesday and Wednesday, our dads came in to work with us at school. One of our DT projects this year was to construct a bridge out of twenty paper straws and tape, and we thought this would be an excellent opportunity to seek the advice of our dads. Some of the dads remembered doing something similar when they were at school, and some of us were very lucky to be working with dads who have an engineering background. The challenge was to construct a bridge that would bear the weight of 300 pennies, and almost all of us managed to do this. We’d like to say a big thank you to all of the dads for helping so many of us, and for getting into the spirit of the challenge! Here are some of the photographs that show everybody in action.
Sports Day, on Wednesday, was a great success. Everybody enjoyed participating in a range of rugby-related activities, which required us to put on a sling and fill water bottles amongst other tasks. Thank you to everybody who came to support us!
We are really enjoying our swimming lessons, and seem to have been lucky with the weather so far! Please make sure that we have our swimming kit, including a hat, at school every Monday, We will still be doing PE on Friday afternoons, so we will need our PE shorts and t-shirt as well as plimsolls or trainers. Thank you!
