We may be coming towards the end of term, but we certainly have not slowed down in Birch class. In English, we have put the finishing touches to our Billy Goats Gruff inspired stories, and in Maths, we have completed our work on shape. In the prisms group, we learnt about parallel and perpendicular and went up to the top playground to practise identifying different pairs of lines. Here we are identifying parallel lines:
…and here we are identifying perpendicular ones!
In Science, we have learnt about soil and fossils. We were surprised to find out that there is more to soil than just mud, and that having lots of different organic matter is very important if we need soil to have the right nutrients to grow to be healthy. We added soil to bottles with water and shook it up before examining the layers that formed.
On Monday, we had our final Maestros concert of the year. It was amazing to see how much we have all learnt since our first squeak and screeches in September! Thank you to everybody who came to watch us play. Instrumental lessons will start again in September.
This will be the last update from Birch class this year! Mrs Walters and Mrs Blundell have both really enjoyed their year with Birch class, and they hope that everybody has a wonderful and relaxing summer break.
