Weeks commencing 23rd and 30th March
As we approach the end of term we have had lots of exciting things to do to get ready for our Spring celebration assembly. We have been finding out about why Christians celebrate Easter and have been doing lots of fun Easter crafts.
In maths we have been learning about shape and pattern. We have revisited our knowledge of 2D shapes and have been challenging ourselves and our partners to make more complex repeating patterns. We have been exploring the properties of 3D solids and talking about where we see them in the world around us.
In phonics we have been practising reading and writing simple sentences with words containing the new digraphs we have learned.
We have a new police station role play area and we have had a great time solving mysteries and trying to catch baddies!
Our new topic will be “All Creatures Great and Small”. We will be beginning this topic by learning about pets. We will be finding out about different sorts of pets people can keep and how to look after them. In maths we will be learning about money and beginning to recognise different coins.
Please continue to read with us every night and help us spot those digraphs and tricky trigraphs!
Do add some photos of our Easter break to our learning journals and encourage us to write our own captions for them – it doesn’t matter if we make a few mistakes! You could also keep an Easter diary for us to share back at school.
A lot of us are still finding those teen numbers difficult so please encourage us to spot and work with numbers from 10-20 and continue to talk to us about the different shapes we see around us.
We will be bringing our beans home so help us to plant them somewhere so we can continue to watch them grow – you could even help us to start a bean diary to share and compare with our friends!
Have a fabulous break and don’t forget to check back soon!
