Nature walks, Adventures and Shapes

Beech Class have been very busy this part of the term and have settled in really well. We had a lot of fun at our Adventure Evening a few weeks ago and have been doing different work around the event.

In English we have focused on using interesting and descriptive language; particularly adjectives, connectives and adverbs. The children have really enjoyed reading through their work and thinking about how to improve it. We also have been writing poems about the bonfire from the adventure evening and are beginning to use similes.

In Cubes Maths we have looked at regular and irregular 2D shapes, including quadrilaterals and angles. The children have really enjoyed the challenge of sorting a range of 2D shapes and thinking about all of their properties. Also we have thought about symmetrical shapes and patterns.

Beech Class went on a nature walk to find different items from nature such as leaves, sticks and conkers (from the ground, of course!). We collected 5 items each and drew them in our sketch books; the class thoroughly enjoyed the activity.
