Welcome back to Holly Class page! We have continued to be really busy and we have learnt so much in our first term in Holly!
First of all, we had a lovely visit to St Stephens church to celebrate Harvest Festival. The children had learnt about the features of the church in an R.E. lesson and were excited to test their new knowledge by spotting these things at the church. We looked for the altar, font, pulpit, a Bible, pews and a cross. We enjoyed singing the lovely Harvest songs and talking about why Harvest is a special celebration.
The Little Red HenLinking to our Harvest theme, we have been learning about the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’. The important message we learnt from this story is that we all need to help each other. So when we had finished learning about the story, we all helped each other to make our own bread! We followed a recipe to help us make the dough. We had a wonderful time kneading the dough and moulding the dough into a roll. The children were very pleased with their rolls and I’m sure you would agree, they look very professional! We have some bakers in the making! Mrs Hull and Miss Hathaway had a taste and gave their seal of approval that the roll tasted delicious. Here are some pictures of us in action!
During the half term, we would like your child to choose a book to review and bring in to ‘Show and Tell’ to the rest of the class.
Please remember to return washed PE kits to school the Monday that we come back to school.
Have a lovely Half Term Holiday!
