CLASS WEB PAGE UPDATE

27th November 2020

Welcome!

We are very excited to share with you some photos of this week's learning in Maple class...

As part of our Geography unit, we explored the playground using compasses. The adults were very impressed with how sensibly and carefully Maple Class used the equipment.

In Discovery Time we have been busy visiting our stations and completing the following activities...

  • In 'Funky fingers' we were building towers and trying to balance a marble on the top.
  • In 'Construction' we were designing and building a car for a family with a wheelchair user to travel in and designing and making a house for a family with a young child and elderly relative to live in.
  • In our 'Small world area' we have been making puppets and telling traditional tales.
  • In the 'Topic Station' we used pinecone hedgehogs and drew roads to practise what we'd learnt in our lesson all about The Green Cross Code.
  • We have been exploring what was inside Maple class's 'Curiosity Cube' and writing our observations.
  • In 'Magic Maths' we used 'tens frames' and 'part whole pictures' to write number sentences.
Miss Dean and Mrs Dearnaley have been working to create a wonderful Advent display. We are looking forward to our Penguin count down.
Thank you for your continued support with daily reading and 'Numbots' and we look forward to sharing an update soon.

CLASS WEB PAGE

29th February 2020

Maple class have had a very productive start to this term! In Maths we have been recapping counting in 2s, 5s and 10s before moving onto fractions and time. We have been making palm leaves in RE as an introduction to learning about the Easter story and why some people choose to follow Jesus. The children really enjoyed recreating the scenes that took place on Palm Sunday with their leaves!

We also started our new DT project this term and the children were thrilled to discover they would be designing and making their own kites. In the meantime, they have been busy growing their very own plants in Science, as they learn about the optimum conditions required for a plant to flourish.

Can you guess what they are growing?
