Welcome to Maple!
From Miss Ibrahim & Mrs Meakes
13th May 2022
In English we have been enthusiastically learning our new ‘model text’ Dogger. We began our topic discovering a cuddly toy that had been left in Maple Class, with only a portion of the name tag on the toy. We discovered that it had been left by another member of staff by mistake!
Since then, we have used prepositions to write about where we would look for a lost object and written about a precious item that we have lost.
Yesterday, we planned our very own versions of the Dogger story. Mrs Meakes and I are looking forward to reading everyone’s stories soon.
We have concluded our addition and subtraction within 20 unit and are now working with numbers to 50. So far we have been learning about tens and ones and exploring different ways of representing numbers.
Last week we concluded our Art topic all about Alma Thomas. The children concluded the unit drawing and colouring a ‘final piece’ inspired by Alma’s work.
This week we began our new topic, Plants. Having spent the week learning about what plants need to grow and the parts of a plant, yesterday we planted our runner beans. The children were very excited and have been checking their pots for shoots! We look forward to sharing their progress.
