Jack and the Beanstalk

Last week was a very mysterious week for Maple Class. After growing our runner bean plants we decided to read Jack and the Beanstalk and did some fantastic acting to go with the story. The next day we found three magic beans which the class puppet, Tom, had received in return for his crown. All of Maple Class put their thinking caps on and came up with lots of different ideas for what to do with the beans. In the end we decided to plant the beans to see what would happen. The next morning a beanstalk had grown and we found some treasure, along with set of huge keys and a shoe. After an inspection we concluded that it must belong to... a giant!

Maple Class wanted to share this exciting news and so everyone planned and made a news report with a partner. Everyone pieced together all the information we had found and answered the questions ‘What? Where? When? Who? Why?’ Everyone produced great work and we even filmed some of the news reports to share. Take a look at a couple of examples from Joe & James and Daisy & Leila Phoebe!

Last week was also the start of swimming and all of the children who swam really enjoyed the lessons! Just a reminder that Maple swimming is on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
