Week commencing 22nd September
Welcome to our Ash class page! Since starting school we have been very busy getting to know our teachers, the school and all our new friends as well as settling into our new school life. Here are some of the exciting things we have been up to...
We have been doing lots of “getting to know you” activities and learning about the school’s Golden Rules and how to be part of a class. Here are some photos of us exploring our new classroom:
We have been mark making in lots of different ways with lots of different materials.
We have also been learning how to hold our pencils using the “Frog on a Log” pencil grip – if we are holding our pencils properly it will help us to form our letters properly, write more neatly and become better stamina writers so do help us practise at home please!
In maths we have been learning how to be careful counters and we have also been experimenting with shapes and patterns.
Our topic at the moment is “Marvellous Me!” and we have been learning about our bodies and talking about our families. We have painted family trees, made paper plate faces and have even painted a life-size human body!
In PE we have been learning the rules of using the school hall and we have completed our NSPCC challenge by learning lots of different jumps and counting how many we can do. We have also been learning to change into our PE kit by ourselves – we still need lots of practice at this, especially with buttons and putting our clothes on in the right order (we don’t put our shoes on until last!).
Outside in the garden we have been practising lots of physical skills and we have built a rocket to take us to the moon!
We will be learning about colour mixing and beginning to think about Harvest. We will be looking for signs of Autumn, so if you find any interesting Autumn leaves or artefacts please bring them in!
Check back soon to find out what else we have been up to!
