Summer Term - Week 9

Ash Class July 2015

The last few weeks in Ash Class have absolutely flown by, we have been so busy! We have had lots of exciting whole school events such as our trip to Legoland(!) and we have also been taking part in some transition activities such as story time with our new teachers.

Here are some of the things we have been up to:

Visit from Zog the Dragon

Julia Donaldson’s story character Zog came to visit us. We listened to his story and then had time for some singing, a picture and a cuddle.

Saplings FACT day

We had a visit from Avril from FACT. The focus of the day was “What makes me special”. We took part in lots of special activities and crafts including making friendship crowns, snack bags and finger print fish. We also did lots of talking about how people and families are different and about people who are special to us.

Preparation for Year One

We have had visits from our new teachers Mrs Turrell and Mrs Manwaring who came to our class to share a story and snack with us. Whilst the new intake of Saplings was busy exploring the unit, we had the chance to go and join in with the Year One children and take part in some activities in their classrooms.

We now know which class we will be in next year and have had the chance to meet our new teachers, teaching assistants and classmates.

Legoland

We all had a fantastic time at Legoland (yes, even the adults!). We were well behaved throughout the trip and not one person complained about waiting in line or not being able to go on every ride. During our day we explored the Star Wars Lego, rode on the Viking’s River Splash, rode Aero Nomad, ate lunch, rode Fairy Tale Brook, played in the park and explored Mini Land – phew! We definitely deserved our ice-cream when we got back to school!

Next week…

Is the Summer holidays! What a fantastic year we have all had. It has gone by so fast and we have all grown up a lot and made fantastic progress with our learning.

We have loved our time in Ash and we are now ready to tackle the next stage in our learning when we start Year One in September.

Have a brilliant, relaxing and enjoyable Summer and we look forward to seeing everyone in September ready for the new school year.

With much love and best wishes,

Ash Class x
