Weeks commencing 4th May
This week in Ash has been short but busy!
We have been learning all about mini beasts and we have been sharing lots of different facts about them with our friends.
In maths we have been creating symmetrical butterflies both by hand and using the computer. We have also been practising our addition.
In literacy we have been reading lots of information books and writing out some of our own mini beast facts. We have learnt the story of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and we have been re-telling this and acting it out as a class.
We have followed up on the story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar by looking at the life cycle of a butterfly and talking about how it changes as it grows.
In art we have used our hands to make our very own Very Hungry Caterpillar paintings – can you guess how we did it?
Outside we have been busy looking after our plants in our garden – we are hoping to see some shoots very soon!
Our topic will be dinosaurs – ROAR!! We will be learning about different types of dinosaur which used to live and reading a range of dinosaur books including both fiction and non-fiction.
In maths we will be looking at comparing and measuring lengths as well as practising our numbers 11-20.
Please continue to read with us every night and help us spot those digraphs and tricky trigraphs!
Help us to be brave writers – we are all able to write simple sentences by sounding our words out now so do encourage us to have a go. Remember, our words don’t have to be spelt correctly we just need to try and get our sounds in the right order (e.g “a laidee burd iz a minee beest” is a super sentence!
Don’t forget to check back soon!
