Week commencing 9th March
This week in Ash class we have been continuing our topic on growth and getting ready for Mums into school day.
In maths we have been learning about halving. We have been doing this by sharing items into two equal groups.
In literacy we have been writing “Thank You” letters to Mog the Cat who visited us on Tuesday. It was really exciting to meet a character we had been reading about and to learn about how the library works. We even got some cuddles!
In art we have been doing lots of different Spring projects including making sheep, making blossom trees and painting flowers using cotton reels.
Outside the weather has been steadily improving at last. We have built a fire station and have had lots of fun role playing fire fighting. We have also been mark making using water and paintbrushes everywhere!
On Friday it was Mums into school day. We performed a special assembly for our Mums and gave them some surprises we had prepared. We were really excited to show all of our Mums our classroom and share our learning journals with them. We had great fun painting portraits, icing biscuits and making flowers. Thank you so much for coming!
We will be learning all about people who help us. We will be talking about different jobs people do and why they are important. In maths we will be learning about doubling.
Please continue to read with us every night and help us spot those digraphs and tricky trigraphs!
Help us be curious about the world around us by encouraging us to look closely at our surroundings and ask questions. Do send any facts you discover in to school so we can share them with our friends.
We are still on the look out for signs of Spring so any photos you can take of trees flowering in your garden, animals you spot whilst out and about, etc can be sent in for our interest table.
Don’t forget to check back soon!
