Week commencing 2nd March
This week in Ash class we have been busy learning all about plants, growing and Spring. We have been using the story of “Jack and the Beanstalk” to support us with this learning.
In maths we have been looking at how we can compare and measure height, length and distance. We have been ordering beanstalks by height and measuring giants we have drawn using cubes. We have also continued to practise counting in different ways.
In literacy we have been acting out the story of “Jack and the Beanstalk” both using small world figures and our new Giant’s Castle role play area. We have also been writing instructions for “How to Plant a Bean” and labels for pictures we have drawn.
In art we have been busy making our new role play area and we have also been doing some observational drawings and paintings of different flowers using magnifying glasses.
We have learned about the different parts of a flower, what they are used for, and how flowers grow. We have also planted our own broad bean plants which we are going to be observing carefully.
We will be getting ready for our Mothers Day assembly so will be practising singing and speaking clearly in big voices. We will be continuing to watch our beans grow and record what is happening to them. We will also be thinking about different places around the world and what it might be like there.
Please continue to read with us every night and help us spot those digraphs and tricky trigraphs!
Help us be curious about the world around us by encouraging us to look closely at our surroundings and ask questions. Do send any facts you discover in to school so we can share them with our friends.
