This week we have been continuing with our topic of Jamaica. We have been discussing the similarities and differences of Jamaica and England. After this, we wrote a postcard to explain to a Jamaican child all about Windsor and ourselves.
In English we have been studying Jamaican poetry. We have been performing it using percussion instruments which was great fun and the children showed fantastic speaking and listening skills.
In Maths we have been learning how to use Venn diagrams to organise shapes and numbers. Here are some pictures of us in action:
Please remember that Maths homework should be brought back with a short comment from parents on a Wednesday. We are encouraging children to take responsibility for their learning and homework helps to consolidate the concepts we learned in class.
We had a very interesting discussion in PSHE this week. We were discussing the idea of what is important to us. We imagined we were going to a desert island and could only take a few items. It was clear (particularly after Christmas) that some children chose tablets and gaming consoles over food and water! However, after an activity where we ordered items discussing their importance food, family and water won! It was very interesting to hear the items children thought were important at the beginning of the session and then at the end.
Finally, homework has returned to normal this week and children will have their Maths homework (to be returned the following Wednesday) and Spelling homework (to be returned the following Monday) as well as their daily reading.
