Ever since the carpet area was transformed into the Sahara desert and we time travelled back to 7500 BC, we’ve been fully immersed in Ancient Egypt! On a weekly basis we’ve been exploring topics such as: placing Ancient Egypt on a historical timeline, the importance of the River Nile, exploring the daily lives of Ancient Egyptians and researching information about Pharaohs.
We’ve also written diary entries from the perspective of an Ancient Egyptian and made hieroglyphic bookmarks using papyrus paper.
It is brilliant to see so many budding historians, thank you to everyone who has brought in books, research and shared their experiences from trips to the British Museum. It has all made for lively and interesting morning registrations!
We’ve been fortunate to have had two coaches teaching hockey this half-term and lessons have included learning how to reverse stick, pass with control and developing team building skills.
Fairy light ‘fizzard’
You may have heard stories about our fairy light ‘fizzard’, in celebration of outstanding effort Mrs Morgan and I have been choosing pupils to switch on (our very pretty!) fairy lights. The fairy light ‘fizzard’ is proving to be very popular and we hope to see many more pupils being nominated.
As we near the end of our first half-term I’d like to thank the pupils for working hard to uphold Sycamore’s 5 R’s and thank everybody at home for their continued support with homework and daily reading.
