Maple Class have had a busy couple of weeks and have had lots of fun with the Pirates topic. We’ve now completed our pirates display board with treasure maps, which we made in geography, and now have our very own pirate ship for our role-play area, thanks to Mrs Elderfield and some Maple Class helpers! And of course, every good pirate needs a pirate hat, so we followed instructions to make our very own. Arrrr!
Maple Class have also been studying pirate ships and have created some excellent sketches in their sketch books. The children used lots of details in the drawings and even experimented with shading and smudging to bring extra life to their sketches.
In addition to all the hard work in the classroom, the children found time to ‘Bounce For Books’ with the rest of the school. Everyone did some super bouncing (with a few reaching just over 100 bounces!) and helped to raise some important funds for the school. Well done and thank you!
Lastly, we’ve all been getting ready for Science Week. In class we have carried on investigating materials by testing which materials are waterproof. We made predictions for a variety of materials before the children tested them with their partners. All of the children enjoyed being scientists for the afternoon and are very excited about the activities on offer during Science Week.
