Welcome back! Here are some of the things we have been getting up to in Ash class this week…
Our topic has been “Autumn” and “Harvest” so we have been on an Autumn walk around the school grounds to look for signs of Autumn and collect materials for our finding out table and to help us in art work. We also found lots and lots of spiders and discovered the school’s orchard.
We used our Autumn walk for some Autumn inspired art work including leaf colouring, colour mixing and a large group collage.
In literacy we have been practising rhyming so we have listened stories with rhymes in and have been making up some silly rhymes for our names. We have also been practising reading books without words ready for when we take our first reading books home next week.
In maths we have continued our work on counting, counting out the correct number of potatoes onto numbered plates, and we’ve had a go at weighing them too. We have also begun to record some of our counting and we are continuing practising our number formation.
We have finished our display board on “Bodies” in the corridor by taking photos of different body parts and writing labels to go with them.
Outside we have been controlling traffic, mixing colours and large mark making with chalks.
We will be continuing our topics of “Autumn” and “Harvest” and reading the story of The Little Red Hen. We will also be sharing our “H is for Holidays” projects.
Please help us by continuing our rhyming games (the sillier the better!), helping us with our counting and recognising numbers and of course working with us on our “H is for Holidays” project. Don’t forget to check our page again soon!
