Weeks commencing 24th November and 1st December
Welcome back! We have had a busy couple of weeks in Ash; here are some of the things we have been up to.
Our topics have been The Three Little Pigs and The Christmas Story.
We have a new role play area for the Three Little Pigs story. We have made masks and puppets and have been acting out the story here.
In literacy we have made our own Three Little Pigs books by sequencing pictures of events and adding some words and sentences.
In maths we have been doing lots of counting, problem solving and talking about numbers.
In phonics we have learned the sounds “x, j, w, y, v, z, zz, qu”. We are really starting to practise our tricky words and we have been looking out for these in sentences.
We went on a school trip to Norden Farm to watch Kipper’s Snowy Day. It was exciting going on a coach and we were very well behaved in the theatre.
We painted our Diva lamps and these are now back from the kiln!
We are starting to get ready for Christmas and have been very busy making lots of Christmas crafts.
Outside we have been busy building in our builders’ yard and we have also been trying to complete our obstacle course by moving in lots of different ways!
We will be starting to get ready for our Saplings’ Christmas Celebration performance. We will be doing lots of singing and practising speaking in big, clear voices. In phonics we will be consolidating our knowledge of the sounds we have learned so far by practising reading and writing sentences including tricky words.
Please continue to read with us every night – don’t forget to sign our reading records because this shows our teachers we have read. Have a go at practising our red tricky words with us too – we will be seeing these more and more at school.
Some of us will have words to learn for our Christmas play so do practise these with us and make sure we know who is speaking before us.
Don’t forget to check back soon!
